LEGA SERIE A PRESENTS SLIDING GOALS
Lega Serie A and College Life Italia presented today in Rome, within the framework of the American University of Rome, the project "Sliding Goals", the initiative dedicated to the sporting and professional future of the young players of the Lega Serie A clubs in the United States.
"Sliding Goals" will allow many youngsters to study, graduate and play soccer in the prestigious American colleges, without ceasing to pursue the dream of reaching the stages of our Championship.
Lega Serie A, engaged in a process of internationalization of Italian football, wants to achieve the goal of supporting the sporting and professional growth of young athletes registered in the Lega Serie A clubs through collaborations with the most important sports and academic realities of the whole world.
College Life Italia represents the reference point in relations between Italy and the United States in the world of Sport and Education; it has allowed over 450 young Italian boys to receive sports scholarships for a total value of 50 million dollars, thus fulfilling the dream of many boys to study and play soccer in the USA.
“Sliding Goals will be the flagship of a project that will see the Lega Serie A actively present in the United States, with the opening of an office that will soon be formalized and many initiatives that will involve prestigious American colleges such as Harvard University. All of this will bring benefits to the Serie A brand in the American market”, said Luigi De Siervo, Lega Serie A CEO.

“The American collegial system allows young talents to carry on the study and the football career at the same time. I am Italian-American; my dream was to reach the levels of Paolo Maldini and Roberto Baggio. Unfortunately I was not able to reach those stages, but thanks to the US academic organization that gave me the opportunity to graduate while I was playing, I turned my studies into the possibility of working in the football world at the end of my career”, said Francesco D’Agostino, coach of the Harvard University team.
