GATTUSO POST-MATCH REACTIONS
Coach Gennaro Gattuso spoke following Milan's 3-1 win against ChievoVerona.
"We were playing well also when results didn't come. When you win you're always in the right. Apart from the Olympiacos game, we have always played good games. We need to improve in defence, but if we create so many chances it is normal to concede something at the back. We still have lots of room for improvement and there is plenty to work on. I would be very pleased with a clean sheet in the derby, but now I just want to enjoy the break".
Well done to the team: "This is how we prepared the match. We have always found the third man free to receive the ball, we played well vertically and quickly moved the ball around: this was our secret today, we were in control all over the pitch and created many chances. Sorrentino pulled off some great saves. I want to congratulate the boys, they did well. This is a strong team but we still need to realise this".
About Higuain: "Higuain is a champion, a great finisher, a lad who at this moment is working really hard for the group, is demanding and also well-loved". About Zapata and Biglia Gattuso said: "Zapata was not at his best today, he played his second game in three days after an injury-ravaged few months. We asked Biglia to play deeper to give Cristian a hand. I am happy for Lucas [Biglia], for the player and the man he is. He puts his heart out for AC Milan. He's an added value to this team and I am pleased with his performance".
After the break, Milan will take on arch rivals Inter in the Derby della Madonnina: “The derby is a game everyone cares about a great deal, there are 80,000 fans in the stands and we’ll be ready to focus when we come back from international duty on beating a very strong Inter".
