SPALLETTI: "A GREAT REACTION"
Luciano Spalletti felt that the team responded well to Salernitana’s equaliser, but was also quick to stress the need for improvement.
“We reacted well but we still have to improve. We got better after they equalised, but we need to show a different mentality. Putting your lead at risk isn’t a positive. We performed at a high level at the end of the first and the team deserves credit for that.
“We have to improve in terms of character and conviction. Determination is key when you need to go and close out the result.
“I opted for a forward line of smaller players with more agility and pace in attack. Bringing [Victor] Osimhen on allowed us to get in behind more. Victor was a bit tense but he put in a selfless performance."
