ROMA WIN THE TROFEO NARANJA

Roma beat Valencia 3-1 at the Mestalla to claim the 44th edition of the Trofeo Naranja.

The Giallorossi put in a great performance to secure their first win over 90 minutes in a pre-season which has seen them meet sides of the caliber of Manchester City, Real Madrid, Sporting and Barcelona. Roma created a host of chances unlike their previous two outings. The opener came on nine minutes as Gervinho was found by Totti. The Ivorian went on a trademark run and found himself one-on-one with the keeper. His effort struck the post before he collected the ball and was denied by the other upright. Mohamed Salah though, on his Giallorossi debut, was on hand to finish from close range. Francesco Totti doubled Roma's lead, finishing a nice move from Miralem Pjanic's pass and leaving Ryan with no chance. Gervinho made it 3-1 on 56 minutes after he was played through by Totti.
