MONTELLA: "WE'LL PLAY TWO DECISIVE GAMES"

Milan TV’s new show “Milanello Today” started on Monday evening with Vincenzo Montella as their first guest. In an exclusive interview with the Red and Blacks' official TV channel and Live on Facebook, the coach spoke about the coming clashes against Austria Wien and Torino. Here are his mains quotes:

ON THE CRITICS
“They are part of the game. Some are accurate and some are exaggerated. They don’t bother me because I understand it’s part of being a coach. My job has to be questioned. The people working above me have to question my job, the management of the club, the board of directors, it’s their job to do so. After the defeat against Napoli, I was very upset, even if I hide it with a smile, which is the way I cope with these events. Of course, the management was also upset, so it’s normal to see Mirabelli disappointed. Not only him, the players too were disappointed after losing such an intense clash".

NAPOLI
“We were not deep enough and we failed to play the ball inside their area, but at the end of the game, we were the team who recorded more shots on goal. We are one step behind Napoli, they showed to be more clinical and dangerous in attack. On the other hand, we managed to take the ball away from an opponent that usually holds over 60% of ball possession, but again, we lost, we are still missing something. Napoli’s level is very high, we cannot deny it".

THE COMING GAMES
“We need to win points. The team is improving, maybe not at a supersonic pace but is improving. We are working hard and we see positive results in different aspects of the game. Also, as the season unfolds, we learn from the different stages. Thursday match is important, we will play against an opponent who likes to keep the ball and go forward. This is why I’m looking forward to facing them. The clash against Torino will be very important too and we have to be ready for it, tactically and physically, because we will have to be fast. It’s a very tough opponent".

THE STATE OF THE TEAM
“We have to be more clinical and improve especially in the final third. The new players have integrated very well. They work hard to be selected for the games and to earn a place in the starting line-up. As regards to the old guard, we need to keep in mind that they have also been chosen by the management to stay, so they have the same value than the others. There are no differences, we are all AC Milan, the ones who were here before us and the ones who are currently working hard for the club".
