Coppa Italia Frecciarossa

MONTELLA: "WE WANT TO DO WELL IN TIM CUP"

In the early morning, coach Montella spoke to Milan TV and, immediately after, to the rest of the journalists at Milanello at the press conference ahead of Milan Torino for the Last Sixteen round of the TIM Cup. The boss touched on several topics: from the match against Mihajlovic’s team to the transfer window.

THE MATCH
"We want to do well also because we have to remember that making into the final of this competition, last campaign, gave us the opportunity to play and win the Supercoppa di Lega in Doha. It’s like a final because each mistake could be costly. Torino have very good players especially upfront and in midfield and are managed very well. We won’t underestimate our opponents. Facing them twice in just a few days means there won’t be any alibis on Monday’s match".

THE LINE-UP
"Today I’ll have a clearer view of the situation, since we have a few issues: Antonelli did not train because of a muscle fatigue, Romagnoli has flu and I don’t think he’ll be fit to play. Regarding Abate, I’ll decide today. The good news is that Kucka is fully fit.
We have shown that we can play with different players. Still, I won’t make too many changes to the line-up. I’ll try to field the best possible XI".

MONTELLA AND THE CUP
"I have never won the Coppa Italia as a player, and as a manager I made it to the final when I was managing Fiorentina, but we lost".

TACTICS
"Sunday we played higher up the pitch and had 29 shots on goal, while Cagliari did not create almost any chance. I think we played a great game, which was then decided by our two forwards. We can always decide to change the game plan, but it’s not easy because we only have to strikers in the squad, since Luiz Adriano is about to leave. There are lot of good attackers in our Youth Sector, so we have different solutions".
