UEFA Europa League

MONTELLA: "THIS IS NOT ENOUGH AND WE KNOW IT"

Interviewed by Milan TV at the Spyros Louis Stadium in Athens, coach Vincenzo Montella reflected on the 0-0 against AEK.

THE MATCH
"The teams deserved to draw, they did create a bit more in the first half while our tempo was too low. We did better in the second half and we went close to scoring. The boys fought. We have to do more and we know it. They didn't give us much space man-marking us".

ON THE INDIVIDUALS
"We know that our men can do more, they are young talents with a great future lying ahead of them. For those who came from foreign leagues, it's not easy to adapt to the Italian style of football. Bonucci and Montolivo played a good game, with great character".

DESIRE TO WIN
"We really haven't got much time to prepare for the next Serie A match but we want to win. There's really great desire to take home a positive result, for our position in the table and for the management".

It was Fabio Borini to comment on the game after the final whistle, in his interview to Milan TV: "It was not easy to play here. AEK defended well, repeating the game they played at San Siro making hard for us to break-through. I look at the positive side: we took home a point, we are top of the group and conceded no goals. We really tried to seal qualification tonight". On his role: "I have learnt to play as winger. I try to give it all, in every aspect. I give everything for this team". Mind goes to the league, now: "The three points, this is the only thing we have in mind. We have a deep squad and it's normal that the coach rotates the players. We only have to adapt to the opponents we face".

Lastly, Riccardo Montolivo had his say addressing the media: "I lacked a bit of self-confidence as I hadn't played in a while, but I'm pleased enough with my performance. I'm disappointed with the draw, we weren't up to the task in the first half: we should have done more and we need to show more character. We played better in the second half and we deserved to score but we have to do more". On the team's mentality: "We have to improve on this aspect, we played too many long balls while we should have moved the ball around more quickly and with more confidence". Up next, Sassuolo: "Sunday's match has become a really important one. Sometimes matches can be won through the confidence that you can score the winning goal at any moment. We need 'dirty' wins too, but luck doesn't come from the sky".
