MONTELLA: "I AM PROUD OF THE TEAM'S SPIRIT"
After the Rossoneri’s 2-1 win over Cagliari, coach Vincenzo Montella spoke to Milan TV at San Siro. These were his words:
HARD-FOUGHT WIN
“I am glad that we had to struggle to win in this initial phase of the season, this way we will learn to strive in order to achieve our goals. I am proud of the team’s spirit. I would like to highlight Montolivo’s performance. At this point we must keep our feet on the ground, everything seems easier when you win but we have to keep working as we have been doing until now".
SUSO'S MATCH-WINNER
“Everyone at the club, the managers and the coaching staff, have always been aware of his talent. He is a very important player for us; he has improved so much and can still become better at finishing. He deserved to be called up by the Spanish national team".
INTERNATIONAL BREAK
“We will not be so many, so we'll take a rest, especially us, the coaches and the technical staff. We will take an extra day off. Then we will work at Milanello with the ones remaining and also with Bonaventura and Romagnoli, who should be fully recovered very soon".
THE ATTACK
“Cutrone is playing very well, I am glad he has been called up (by Italy U21). He is still the same boy, it will be important for him not to lose self confidence as he is enjoying a special moment. Kalinic is doing well, he has integrated into the group. He was determined to come to AC Milan, even at a high cost. I decided to play him and not André Silva because he knows Italian football style well. He will have time to show me his true value. Borini? He gave a solid performance, he understands perfectly how to play more for the team, he is doing very well, as I expected".
After the match, Leonardo Bonucci also spoke to Milan TV: “We thought all was going to be easy, we dominated the first half but after we conceded the goal we dropped our level of play and started taking too many risks. These mistakes are useful to learn and to understand that in the toughest moments we need everyone’s contribution. Tonight, this fantastic group of players showed new signs of improvements. Bouncing back is really important, especially when it comes to a team that is still in a building process, being able to recover our intensity is an important sign of improvement. On Cutrone: “He must continue like this, he has a positive energy, he spreads enthusiasm which is also very valuable to us, the more experienced players. It will be important for him to keep his feet on the ground”. The Italian national team: “It’s an honour to wear the Italian jersey, although it means coach Montella will have less time to work with us”. On the Europa League group stage draw: “It’s a good draw for us, but every match in the competition is tough so we’ll have to give 110%. We have to do our best to achieve our objectives and we’ll need everyone’s involvement”.
