MIHAJLOVIC: "WE WERE ABLE TO WIN AND THAT'S WHAT MATTERS"

Sinisa Mihajlovic gave his thoughts following the 3-1 victory after extra time over Crotone on Tuesday night:

"Tonight was the right occasion to rotate the squad and the players that come into the side have to take their chance. Some of those players did well tonight and others less so. It was a difficult match, but it’s winning and the result that counts in the end. Some players perhaps didn’t have the right approach tonight, but they all did what they had to do. I understand it’s not easy to come into the side every now and then, but I got the answers I needed and I know who I can rely on more and who I can count on less. As I said, there are those that did well and others less so, but it was to be expected. We faced a team that is second in Serie B and that came here to the San Siro to try and make a dream come true. Hats off to Crotone".

"Tonight I wanted to rest Niang and Bacca and I was certain we wouldn’t have needed them, but in the end I had to add more quality to the side with the introduction of Niang, Bonaventura and Montolivo and things then went better for us. You don’t win on paper but out on the pitch. I didn’t expect the match to go to extra-time, but I always remained calm. I knew we would win".
