MANCINI: "WE NEED TIME TO BUILD MATURITY"

Roberto Mancini was understandably disappointed with today's result. Before getting to his analysis of the game, the Nerazzurri head coach offered his respects to the Maldini family after the news that Cesare Maldini had died this morning: "First of all, I'd like to pass on my condolences to Paolo's family after his father passed away".

"As for the match, I believe that we have to continue fighting and today's game was decided by isolated incidents. Nevertheless, in a situation like this when you're in control, you have to get the second goal. The season isn't over but we have to learn from our mistakes. There are moments in the season when everything is going well and others when you might concede just one shot on target and lose the game."

The Inter boss also offered up some technical analysis on his team's display: "The two players on the right were completely out of position for their first goal. That simply cannot happen. However, I insist that we had chances to double our lead and kill off the contest. This is where we need to improve. Our ambition is always to do as much as we can and work as hard as we can to achieve the best result possible. We have to believe in ourselves right until the end."

Finally, some comments on what this side is lacking: "We need time to build maturity. At the start of the season we were very focused and picked up some great results. Then we went through a tough patch where we got less than we deserved."
