INSIGNE: "PROUD TO BE NAPOLI CAPTAIN"

Lorenzo Insigne has spoken of his pride at being club captain and his aspirations for the coming season in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss.

Speaking from the team's training camp in Dimaro, the Italy forward said: “I feel like the captain of Napoli and I'm very proud to wear this armband. I'll give everything for this club but I must say that even when Marek [Hamsik] was captain, I always felt a sense of responsibility and always tried to help my team-mates on and off the pitch. I know there are big expectations of me and I hope that with the coach's confidence I can achieve some great results with the team. We're very ambitious and we're determined to have a great season.”

On his position

“I like starting on the left. I've spoken to [Carlo] Ancelotti about it and he 's been totally supportive. I like to cut inside and play balls in for team-mates getting forward. I think that's the position where I play my best football.”

On the Scudetto race

“It's not just Juventus, although they'll obviously start as favourites. The league will be more even this season as Inter and Roma are strengthening too, but we want to get off to a strong start and I think we have what it takes to battle for top spot.”

On Napoli signings

“Any top player who joins Napoli will be very welcome. We've already made one huge signing in [Kostas] Manolas. He and [Kalidou] Koulibaly will be one of the best centre-back partnerships in the world. We want the fans on our side this season. The club have priced season tickets low and organised loads of benefits so that we can get lots of fans into the stadium. When the San Paolo is full it's like an extra gear – they really get behind us. It's going to be a big year and we all need to bond together.”
