GATTUSO: "WE'RE PLAYING FOR SOMETHING BIG"
A day ahead of Parma v AC Milan, the at Milanello before squad was first announced Gennaro Gattuso’s press conference. Here is all that the Coach had to say at the conference which was shown live on and Milan TV before the 33rd match of the Serie A season.
ON PARMA v AC MILAN
"It will be a difficult game because of the opponents’ characteristics. We probably didn’t deserve to win in the previous meeting. They know what they’re doing, they know how to make things difficult for you. We’ll need to go out there with the right attitude and not leave space open. Historically, the Stadio Tardini has been a tough place to visit. Both us and them have a lot to play for, it will be a big match and we need to be ready. We can’t think about the Coppa Italia, only Serie A TIM."
THE TEAM
"I’m seeing a sense of calm and enthusiasm again, and this is how we should play tomorrow. Away from home, we’ve only won five times, woth some of these wins coming in the last minute. Points are required: we need to be more ruthless and not get it wrong when it comes to our approach. The team have been training very well and have a lot of desire. We have to do well in terms of playing where we don’t like to play."
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
"The standard is very high in the Champions League. Both individuals and the economic power of clubs make the difference. AC Milan aren’t going their best period in Europe, we have a lot of young players and are trying to return to the very top as soon as possible. It won’t be a decisive matchday in terms of qualification for the Champions League, there are games remaining and it’ll be a fight until the end."
INDIVIDUALS
"Paquetá has returned to the group, he’s doing really well and we’ll see if we need him tomorrow. Romagnoli is also available. Zapata to start? Let’s wait and see, he did well when he came on against Lazio. Suso has always made himself available to teammates out on the pitch, I think the moment has arrived to do something new and different. Caldara is available, leaving him out for now is my choice because he’s been missing for a long time. He’s training well and giving his all: the right situation needs to come about to let him play."
