GATTUSO: "WE DID WHAT WE HAD TO"

Gennaro Gattuso spoke to Milan TV following the 2-1 win over Bologna at San Siro.

ON THE PERFORMANCE

"This game reminded of AC Milan v SPAL which we won in December. I saw us make lots of silly mistakes on the pitch, the ball was heavy after five days of training camp but the team showed desire and character. It's okay, we did what we had to."

THE SUPPORT AT SAN SIRO

"I was expecting a San Siro that was ready to start whistling but instead the stadium clapped and pushed the guys on for the whole match. Credit to our fans, I was worried that it would be a different atmosphere."

RECENT MONTHS

"After the Derby, we were struggling on a personal and not just footballing level. For weeks, the group and what had happened was all that was spoken about. We're still giving too much away in this regard. I already told Gazidis and Leonardo before that I had overlooked some things that I didn't like because I didn't want to harm the balance that had been created in the dressing room. At the same time, I warned them that everyone would pay after the first mistake. I strongly believe in what I say and I've been consistent."

THE VALUE OF THE TEAM

"Even with everything that's happened, we're still in it despite all of our flaws. That's because we have positive features and young players with huge margins for improvement. We're doing big things."
