Serie A TIM

DETERMINED DE SCIGLIO WANTS SIXTH SPOT

Mattia De Sciglio spoke to the Milan Channel earlier today:

"I’m doing much better, the wound has healed, it was a match-incident, these things happen. The minimum would have been an apology or to ask how I was, but never mind. We put in a completely different performance against Frosinone than the one versus Verona where we fell apart after scoring. On Sunday it was the opposite even if a team targeting Europe like us cannot afford to ship three goals at home to Frosinone, with all due respect".

"We can’t afford to only have the TIM Cup as our route into Europe. Our aim is to also get there by reclaiming sixth place and with a different attitude. We have already said it this season: we all have to give more. Europe is important to us and a club like ours has to get back into Europe. We want to qualify for Europe via the league. This game on Saturday with Bologna will be hard and we have to play for the win. When you’re out on the pitch, you have to be strong enough to block everything out and focus exclusively on your game. You cannot get distracted by external issues because it can influence and affect your performance. You have to focus entirely on the match".

"We have to work well ahead of the TIM Cup final and ensure we go into it ready after these last two league games. That won’t be easy and we have to give 100% to claim sixth place. Playing Roma on the last day of the season will be massive motivation for us and ensure we keep our concentration levels high ahead of the final. You cannot expect drastic changes in such a short amount of time with a new coach. But the team is grasping more of Brocchi’s ideas with each day and with time you will see changes to our game."
