CONTE: "I CAN ONLY THANK THE LADS"
Antonio Conte’s Inter side picked up their eighth win of the Serie A TIM season against Brescia at the Rigamonti, with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku proving decisive on matchday ten.
“It becomes difficult to talk about the game because we’ve now played our fourth match in nine days with the same players,” said the Coach after Inter’s latest win. “The three points were all that counted this evening and we did something extraordinary. All I can do is thank the lads for the spirit that they showed, you have to win certain games by digging in."
“We now have to recover because we’re only halfway there, I haven’t seen any other side having to play seven matches in 20 days. Next up it’s Bologna on Saturday and then we’ve got a Tuesday fixture away to Dortmund."
“Other big sides have struggled on this pitch, it wasn’t easy. I would like to have more time to prepare for these games but we need to make do. We’ll make the most of this period to try to improve in all aspects. This is the only way we can start to undertake an important journey for our future."
“We mustn’t think that we can close our eyes due to our results because we are pushing the engine to the max. It’s thanks to this group that we’re going beyond expectations.” Finally, Conte commented on Inter’s front pairing, who were once again key today: “Romelu and Lautaro are doing very well and they can certainly improve still further. They’re also two players who work a lot for the team, both in and out of possession. This is what I ask for.”
